CIAT participated in working session by invitation of LEGIS, IFA Colombia and the Colombian Institute of Tax Law
A working breakfast for considering “Common challenges of tax administrations and large businesses” was held in the city of Bogota, Colombia, on October 13, 2010.
The CIAT International Cooperation Manager, Isaác Gonzalo Arias Esteban, was the speaker at the working breakfast organized by LEGIS, IFA Colombia and the Colombian Institute of Tax Law, wherein he discussed three current key aspects that imply challenges for the tax administrations as well as large businesses. These are: transfer pricing, international exchange of tax information and trends and good practices for strengthening the relationship between the tax authority and the taxpayer.
In said sphere, a discussion took place with the participants, mainly students, independent tax advisers, professors and tax experts from important transnational and consulting companies, regarding the current situation in Colombia and Latin America, several aspects that generate conflict in the relationships with the Treasury, experiences of countries that have managed to overcome such conflicts and recommendations from international organizations.
