Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Federation visits the Executive Secretariat
On March 16, 2018, the Executive Secretariat of CIAT had the honor of receiving the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Swiss Confederation, before the governments of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Panama, Mr. Mirko Giulietti. The Ambassador was attended by Mr. Marcio Verdi, Executive Secretary of CIAT, directors of the organization and the Head of the mission of Spain to CIAT.
In the framework of the meeting, discussions were held on the structure and operation of CIAT, its main projects and the situation of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, especially in relation to their tax revenues. Likewise, the progress of the CIAT-SECO Cooperation Program, in force since 2015, was discussed; which has allowed to support the tax administrations of Guyana, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Bolivia in various topics, such as tax non-compliance risk management, massive controls, transfer pricing, transparency and international exchange of information, attention to taxpayer, control of large companies, tax treaties, taxpayer registration, electronic invoice, collection processes, among others.
The exchange with Mr. Ambassador has been key to further strengthen the ties between CIAT and the Government of Switzerland.
