Mr. James Mburu, the Kenya Revenue Authority representative for the Large Taxpayer Office visited CIAT Secretariat on, September 7, 2011 and met with Mr. Socorro Velázquez, Director, International Assistance and Cooperation.

Besides visiting CIAT headquarters and its senior officials, Mr. Mburu was interested in learning about the experience of the American countries in the implementation of electronic invoice. Mr. Velázquez gave him a copy of the Document on Relevant Issues about Electronic Invoice that was prepared by members of this Working Group. In their conversation, they discussed the challenges and successes that member countries have had in this area, and emphasized the support that members and the Secretariat have been providing to member countries in the implementation of an electronic invoice system. Mr. Mburu reported that Kenya´s tax administration is in the process of implementing such a system and that he was interested in getting information on the best practices and its development.

Mr. Velázquez assured Mr. Mburu that as evidenced by the recent visit to Kenya by Mr. Raúl Zambrano, CIAT Technical Assistance Manager, the Secretariat is committed to continue supporting Kenya´s tax administration in this area.
