The 56th CIAT General Assembly concludes
From April 26 to 27, 2022, the 56th CIAT General Assembly took place with the central theme: ” The current challenges of international taxation: exchange of information as a tool to combat tax evasion and international tax avoidance” through the virtual modality.
More than 300 colleagues from member countries, invited countries and executives from international organizations related to CIAT participated.
The technical sessions included presentations, case studies from member countries and a session on CIAT’s international activities and products.
The Inaugural Conference was given by Veronica Grondona, Director of International Taxation of the AFIP of Argentina, the country sponsoring this Assembly.
Pascal Saint-Amans, Director of the OECD Center for Tax Policy and Administration made the closing remarks in the session moderated by Ainsley Powell, Director General of the Tax Administration of Jamaica.
During the Closing Session of the event, Jesús Gascon Catalan, Director General of the AEAT of Spain, invited to the next CIAT Technical Conference 2022, to be held in October 3-6, 2022, in Granada, Spain, in face-to-face mode. Margarita Faral, Director General of Taxes of Uruguay, extended an invitation to the 57th CIAT General Assembly to be held in April 2023.
The Federal Administrator of Public Revenues of the AFIP of Argentina, Mercedes Marco del Pont, President of the CIAT Executive Council 2022 – 2023, conducted the conclusion and closing remarks of the Assembly.
