CIAT and the World Bank visit GAFILAT’s Headquarters
On May 16, 2024, Mr. Gonzalo Arias, CIAT Director of International Cooperation and Taxation, visited GAFILAT headquarters together with a delegation from the World Bank. The purpose of this visit was to explore opportunities for cooperation in fighting financial and tax crimes. The respective delegations were received by Ms. Liliana Alcaraz, President of GAFILAT, Mr. Esteban Fullin, Executive Secretary, and Mr. Juan Cruz Ponce, Deputy Executive Secretary.
The institutions present ratified the importance for regional institutions to strengthen ties in order to generate synergies in this complex matter that involves different visions, organizational cultures and knowledge, and agreed to explore the possibility of cooperating to promote the systematic use of public information among the competent organizations in taxation and financial control matters.
