From February 17 to 22, the AECID Training Center in Montevideo, Uruguay, hosted the face-to-face seminar on fiscal and budgetary policy and sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. The seminar is part of the Master’s Degree in Public Finance and Financial and Tax Administration, an Official Master’s Degree offered by the National University of Distance Education (UNED) of Spain jointly with the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IEF), ICEX Spain Exports and Investments, the Fundación Carolina, the State Agency of Tax Administration (AEAT) of Spain and the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT).

The event was attended by 55 officials from more than 10 countries in the region, who had the opportunity to discuss key trends in tax matters, share best practices and exchange experiences in public revenue and international taxation.

• Jabier Martín Román, Academic Coordinator of the Master’s Program
• Ramiro Laredo, Coordinator of the Financial Specialty of the Master’s Program
• Antoinette Musilek, Coordinator of the Tax Specialty of the Master’s Program
• José Manuel Tranchez, Master’s Professor
• Maureen Pérez, CIAT Training Manager
• José Manuel Guirola, Master’s Professor
• Célia Maria Silva Carvalho, Academic Coordinator of the CONSEFAZ Group
• Alvaro Romano, Professor at the University of the Republic of Uruguay.

In addition to fostering dialogue and collaborative learning, one of the main objectives of the seminar was to carry out the on-site exams corresponding to the subjects of the first four-month period of the program.

This training space reinforces the commitment of CIAT and the other organizations participating in the Master’s program to capacity building in the region
