Humphrey Wattanga

Humphrey Wattanga is the Commissioner General of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), appointed on 22nd August 2023. He is a seasoned corporate finance professional with over 20 years of international experience in mobilizing capital and structuring transactions across public and private sectors. Prior to joining KRA, he served as Managing Director of Meghraj Capital Group and completed a six-year term as Commissioner and Vice Chair of the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA).
Mr. Wattanga began his career in the United States with AT&T before spending a decade in South Africa as Senior Partner at AFCORP Investments Limited. He played a pivotal role in developing the mobile gateway platform that enabled the launch of Kenya’s innovative M-Akiba bond and led efforts at CRA to design a Single Integrated County Revenue Management System. He holds an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and graduated cum laude in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard University.
