Through Royal Decree 513/2013 of the Council of Ministers of June 28, 2013, Mr. Santiago Menendez Menendez is appointed Director General of the State Tax Administration Agency (AEAT) of Spain, thereby replacing Ms. Beatriz Viana Miguel who ceases at her own request.

Mr. Santiago Menendez Menendez was born in Gijon (Asturias) in 1959. He holds a degree in Economics and Business Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid. He is member of the State Tax Inspectorate and the Unit of State Auditors and Comptrollers; he has held senior positions as Comptroller in the State General Comptroller Unit and has been Head of the Control Unit at the AEAT Delegations in Ourense, Oviedo and Madrid. He was Director of the AEAT Department of Revenue, Special AEAT Delegate in Asturias and currently held the position of Chief Inspector at the National Fraud Investigation Bureau (ONIF) of the Tax Agency.
