CIAT participated in the 2024 MDB/DFI Tax Symposium – Emerging Voices in International Tax: Exploring the Growing Influence of Developing Countries and Shareholder Activism on Private Sector Development Finance
On March 5, 2024, CIAT’s Director of International Cooperation and Taxation, Gonzalo Arias, participated in Panel 1 “Regional perspectives on tax certainty in an evolving tax framework” of the Symposium organized by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and moderated by Chizaram Modline (IFC MCT Tax Lead), together with Belema Obuoforibo of the IBFD and David Sullivan of the World Bank. The panel discussed the importance of the concept of certainty in the tax administration-taxpayer relationship in the face of the challenges posed by international taxation, transparency as a key feature of the tax system, the importance of strengthening capacities to efficiently resolve international tax disputes, and the role of international and regional organizations in capacity building and the construction of a harmonized international legal framework capable of providing certainty.
