Regional Consultation on BEPS for Latin America and the Caribbean

On September 27th, 2021, the OECD together with CIAT and the IDB, organized a meeting to discuss progress on proposed measures to address the tax challenges of the digitalization of the economy with all stakeholders. This, as a consequence of the decision taken in early July 2021 by more than 130 member countries of the BEPS Inclusive Framework to subscribe to a ”Declaration on the two-pillar solution to address the tax challenges arising from the digitalization of the economy”.

The objective of this Regional Consultation was to raise awareness among the member countries on the proposals and their latest adjustments, address possible challenges and receive feedback to prepare for the discussions to be held at the 13th Meeting of the Inclusive Framework, to be held on October 8th, 2021.

The meeting presented and discussed the results of the work being carried out by the OECD with members of the BEPS Inclusive Framework, which is currently focused on finalizing the most representative elements of the Declaration and on the formulation and adoption of a detailed implementation plan in October 2021.

The meeting was held virtually and was attended by more than 140 officials from tax administrations and ministries of finance in Latin American and Caribbean countries, as well as officials from the sponsoring organizations.
