Sponsored by the General Directorate of Taxation of the Republic of Uruguay, the 44th CIAT General Assembly was inaugurated in Montevideo on April 12, 2010, its main theme being the “Role of the Tax Administrations in the Global Crisis”. Attending the meeting are 28 delegations from the member countries and associate member countries, 9 delegations from guest countries and observers and 19 delegations from international organizations and institutions related to CIAT.

The General Assembly was formally inaugurated by Mr. Pedro Buonome, Undersecretary of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uruguay, being present at the head table, Messrs. Márcio F. Verdi, CIAT Executive Secretary, Pablo Ferreri, General Director of the General Directorate of Taxation of the Republic of Uruguay, Mrs. Germania Montás, Deputy General Director of the DGII of the Dominican Republic and President of the CIAT Executive Council, as well as other Executive Council members.
