On December 3, 2025, the Externado University of Colombia commemorated the 30th anniversary of its Tax Law Department, an academic space that has marked a milestone in the formation and development of tax law in the country. The celebration brought together experts, teachers, and strategic allies in a day that highlighted the evolution and impact of this discipline in the legal and economic spheres.

The event agenda included significant moments such as the launch of the book “Democracy, Constitution, and Public Finance: The Background of the 1991 Colombian Constitution,” followed by the presentation “Tax Law and its Dogmatic Construction: Past, Present, and Future,” which offered an in-depth reflection on the evolution of this branch of law. In addition, there was a panel discussion on the teaching of tax law and a conversation on the origins and evolution of the Department, closing with a cocktail reception that allowed participants to exchange ideas.

The Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) had the honor of participating in this celebration, which recognized the history of collaboration between both institutions, an alliance that continues through the Virtual master’s degree in Taxation, Foreign Trade, and Customs. The reception was led by Maureen Pérez, Training Manager of the AATT’s Human Talent Development Department, who expressed her gratitude for the recognition and highlighted the importance of academic cooperation in strengthening technical capacities in the region.
