CIAT present the “Digital Identity Guide for Tax Administrations” at its 60th General Assembly
During the 60th General Assembly of the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), held from May 12 to 14, 2026, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, CIAT presented the Digital Identity Guide for Tax Administrations on May 13. The new publication was developed to support tax administrations in designing, implementing, and strengthening digital identity mechanisms within their services and processes.
The publication addressed digital identity as a strategic institutional capability to modernize relationships with taxpayers, facilitate access to digital services, enhance the security of interactions, and strengthen interoperability with other government systems.
Developed in collaboration with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the publication provides a practical and accessible reference, particularly for tax administrations in Latin America and the Caribbean. The guide combines a conceptual overview of the evolution of digital identification with an analysis of the current situation in the region, based on a survey conducted among several tax administrations.
With this publication, CIAT reaffirmed its commitment to the digital transformation of tax administrations and to the generation of technical knowledge to support decision-making, promote best practices, and strengthen the institutional capacities of its member countries.
The publication is available in Spanish and English on the CIAT website, consolidating itself as a practical reference for strengthening digital identity within the region’s tax administrations.
