As part of the 60th CIAT General Assembly, and as a prelude to its official opening, the meeting of the CIAT Executive Council (2025–2026) was held on May 12, 2026, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

The meeting was chaired by Brazil’s Councillor, Adriana Gomes Rêgo, and was attended by the councillors of Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Curaçao, Honduras, the Netherlands, Peru, and the Dominican Republic. Special guests also included the Permanent Representatives of Spain and Italy to the CIAT.

The Executive Secretary Mr. Márcio F. Verdi presented a report on CIAT’s recent activities, highlighting key achievements and new developments. During his presentation, he was joined by members of the Executive Secretariat team, who provided additional information and details on ongoing programs
