CIAT Executive Council Meeting

The Executive Council met at the CIAT headquarters on March 4 and 5. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Nelson Hernández, General Director of Income of Uruguay. He replaced Mr. Juan Hernández Batista from the Dominican Republic, current President, who was unable to attend the meeting on this occasion.

The issues mainly considered by the Council were the management report of the new Executive Secretary on his first 60 days; the draft Strategic Plan for 2010-2013, prepared in November by an ad-hoc Technical Committee of 6 countries designated by the Executive Council; the 2010-2011 Annual Operational Plan and its corresponding draft budget; the Report of the Executive Council’s Financial Affairs Advisory Subcommittee on the Financial Statements and execution of the current budget.  All of these documents must be subsequently approved by the member countries at the Administrative Session of the CIAT General Assembly, to be held next April in Montevideo.

The Executive Council also approved the Executive Secretariat’s new organizational structure proposed by the Executive Secretary.
