CIAT, IDB, EUROsociAL, SAT México and UNED sponsored the Workshop on Prevention and Resolution of Tax Disputes
From June 12 to 13, 2024, the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), the EUROsociAL Program, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Tax Administration Service (SAT) of Mexico, and the National University of Distance Education of Spain (UNED) co-sponsored a Workshop on Prevention and Resolution of Tax Disputes at the UNED campus in Mexico City. The workshop was attended by over 40 officials from various government areas (tax administrations, ministries of finance, administrative tax courts, and collection agencies), sponsoring organizations, and the International Monetary Fund.
The objective of the workshop was to present in detail an initiative that CIAT, EUROsociAL, and the IDB have been developing since 2022, which is the Maturity Model on Prevention and Resolution of Tax Disputes. Likewise, each of its indicators and the evaluation methodology were discussed. As a result of the feedback obtained, the Maturity Model will be optimized before advancing to the implementation or pilot testing stage.
With the aim of learning about good practices in the subjects covered by the Maturity Model, experiences from Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Peru, the IDB, and the IMF were presented. CIAT thanks all of the participants and the organizations that made this workshop a success.
