CIAT participated in the meeting on “Governmental Innovation of a State at the Service of Society”
The Ibero-American Center for Productivity and Competitiveness organized the meeting on “Governmental Innovation of a State at the Service of Society”, in response to the changes which the digital revolution is imposing on the economy, which was held in Madrid on June 13-15, 2018. In this process, the public sector plays an essential, and in some cases critical role; not only in its traditional facet or as service provider, where it is required to do more with less, but also to do it efficiently, respond to challenges posed by the new situation and avoid exclusion.
In the meeting consideration was given to essential aspects of the new way of acting of the governments under this different approach and the sharing of specific experiences on innovation and digital transformation that is taking place in several of the countries where the Council acts; specifically, in the areas of Taxes and Customs, as well as Traceability, Food Security and Social Innovation.
The CIAT Director of Technical Assistance and ICT, Raul Zambrano, participated as moderator of the Round Table on Taxes.
