CIAT participated in the EUROsociAL+ high-level dialogue between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean.
On June 29-30, 2022, high-level representatives of governments and institutions from Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean, dedicated to different areas of government, met in Brussels to discuss the achievements of the EUROsociAL+ Program and future prospects for bi-regional cooperation.
The EUROsociAL+ Program, which has been operating for 6 years with a budget of EUR 32,000,000, is about to close, and is the third phase of a cooperation program financed by the European Union to strengthen the exchange relationship with Latin American countries and promote social cohesion in the region, through concrete actions in specific and transversal areas.
The discussions concluded that cooperation between Latin America and the Caribbean and Europe is strategic and necessary. They also highlighted some of the challenges that countries must currently face in terms of institutions, democracy, gender focus, justice, education, health, among others, placing taxation at the center of their concerns.
CIAT presented its vision on public revenue management, in particular, the topics addressed within the framework of the Program, which in turn constitute regional and global challenges and trends. Many of these challenges are being worked on within the framework of the International Taxation Network, supported by EUROsociAL+. These challenges are the control of international transactions, control and management of transactions carried out in the digital economy, electronic invoicing, tax non-compliance risk management, general anti-avoidance rules, tax dispute prevention and tax dispute resolution.
We appreciate the trust placed by EUROsociAL+ in CIAT to carry out cooperation actions with its member countries.
