CIAT participated in the first ITC/ATI Conference on Taxation and Development

Our Director of Human Talent Training and Development, Alejandro Juárez, participated in the ITC/ATI Conference on Taxation and Development held in Berlin, Germany on June 14-16, 2017.

The participants in the conference included some 150 country representatives and partners for development, as well as experts, academicians and civil society representatives.

The program dealt with the three commitments of the Addis Tax Initiative (ATI): 1) to redouble efforts for the mobilization of internal resources (MIR) in the counterpart countries, 2) strengthen the MIR, 3) ensure the coherence of the development policies. Our director was the moderator of the panel on “Integrity in the tax administration: The path to be followed”; with the distinguished participation of Mrs. Miriam Guzmán, Head of the Income Administration Service of Honduras, who shared her country’s significant experience in the improvement of her organization’s integrity profile.

The ultimate purpose is to promote the objectives of the Addis Tax Initiative and to contribute to comply with the latter’s commitment by the year 2020.

The main conclusions of the event dealt with the development of strategies for the mobilization of internal resources, evaluation of the elimination of benefits to international donors, combatting corrupt incentives and strengthening the tax administrations and public policies for development.
