Closing Seminar of the 9th Edition of the Master’s Degree in Public Finance and Financial and Tax Administration
On September 17, 2024 in Madrid, Spain, the closing seminar of the 9th edition of the Master’s program took place, with the participation of more than 50 officials from the tax administrations of Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Peru and the Dominican Republic.
The welcoming remarks were made by Mr. Ignacio Corral Guadaño, Director of the Institute of Fiscal Studies (IEF); followed by the words of Mr. José Manuel Guirola, Professor of Applied Economics at UNED and Academic Director of the master’s degree; then, the words of Mr. Mariano Rojo, Head of the Spanish Mission to CIAT and finally the words of Mr. René Oliveira e Sousa Júnior, Secretary of the Treasury of the State of Pará, Brazil. In the inaugural session, interesting presentations were given, among them: Taxation in LAC in light of the information provided by the FFCs (CIAT tax files) by Santiago Díaz de Sarralde, Director of Tax Studies and Research; Challenges for Administrations in the face of tax reforms in LAC by Óscar Orué, National Director of Tax Revenue of Paraguay; Social Contract, Security and Democracy by Mrs. Erika Rodríguez Pinzón, Director of the Carolina Foundation; and Spanish Tax Agenda by Mrs. María José Garde Garde, Director General of Taxes.
During this week and the following week, the master’s degree’s students will present their final work, as well as their exams of the subjects, and visits to the UNED facilities and other conferences will be conducted.
