First Regional Meeting of the Inclusive Framework on BEPS for Latin America and the Caribbean

On September 21 to 23, Montevideo was the seat of the First Regional Meeting of the Inclusive Framework Erosion of the Tax base and Benefit Transfer (BEPS) for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

The meeting was sponsored by the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uruguay, in collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Bank Group (WBG), the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

This meeting followed-up the meeting of the inclusive framework held in Kyoto (Japan) on June 29 – July 1, 2016, and this time also included the participation of representatives from business, civil society, academia, government representatives, international and regional organisations.

The purpose of the meeting was to provide countries with the opportunity to input their perspectives on the implementation of the BEPS measures, sharing their experiences and challenges they face. It was an instance to discuss several issues related to the inclusive framework and new initiatives introduced, such as Twinning Programmes and remote participation through webinars. This dynamic fostered an interactive forum that benefited the countries in the region and provided information about the developments in the inclusive framework.
