IBFD gives assistance to Peru´s SUNAT on the control of harmful international tax planning, in the framework of the ITC-GIZ-CIAT collaboration program

In the month of June of the current year, CIAT has asked that the IBFD provides technical assistance to Peru´s SUNAT, on techniques to control harmful international tax planning. Specifically, the assistance treated the following topics: Treaties and international fiscal planning, holding companies and financing activities’ tax planning, company restructuring and intangibles’ tax planning, permanent establishment for tax planning and new financial establishments, among others.

According to Peru’s SUNAT authorities, the assistance widely surpassed their expectations and contributed with the task of identifying various elements that facilitate harmful tax planning in Peru. Likewise, as a consequence of the support given, aspects of interest were discussed such as the impact of tax treaties and the range of the new laws on international fiscal transparency.

This collaboration action has been made possible thanks to the financial support of GIZ to CIAT, through the “International Tax Compact” initiative and the collaboration convention signed by CIAT and the IBFD.
