Meeting of the permanent committee on Ethics and Tax Administration
The second meeting of the Permanent Committee on Ethics and Tax Administration held from 25-29 May 2009 concluded successfully, in the Girasol Meeting Room of the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
The objectives of the mentioned committee, chaired by Canada and with the technical coordination of the Executive Secretariat are to: Implement CIAT’s action plan for the strengthening Ethics in the tax administrations of their member countries, specifically focus on the subject of ethics, develop strategies and develop instruments, as well as provide technical assistance that helps its member countries in the design and application of integrity programs.
On this occasion 13 representatives from the different member countries and one representative from the Swedish Tax Administration participated at the meeting. The participants were: Maria Siomara Ayeran from Argentina, Joao Vital from Brazil, Richard Dyson from Canada, Mario Moren from Chile, Jaime Saavedra from Colombia, Gina Valdivieso from Ecuador, Alejandro Luelmo from Spain, Silvia Castillo from Guatemala, Hermien Owart from the Netherlands, Eva Munoz from Panama, Sandra Peralta from Dominican Republic, Clifford Collings from South Africa, Anders Stridh from Sweden and Jacqueline Gomez from Trinidad & Tobago.
Mr. Claudino Pita, CIAT Executive Secretary gave the opening remarks and Maria Raquel Ayala Doval, Director of Tax Studies and Julio A. Lopez, Technical Assistant of the Tax Legislation and Statistics Coordination Department participated representing CIAT.
