The General Directorate of Taxation (DGI) of Uruguay is working in coordination with the Executive Secretariat for holding the 44th CIAT General Assembly in Montevideo on April 12-15, 2010.

Information regarding the organization of the event may be consulted by all participants and others interested through the Web page especially prepared by the Organizing Committee.

The main theme of this year’s General Assembly is: “The Role of the Tax Administrations in the Global Crisis”, which will consider three fundamental aspects:

•    Transparency and ethics as condition for strengthening and improving institutional effectiveness.
•    Measurement of the tax gap and its impact on efficiency and effectiveness of the tax administration.
•    Strategies for improving voluntary compliance and the collection of taxes.

This gathering promoted by CIAT and the General Directorate of Taxation of Uruguay  is another opportunity for participants to share tax experiences and also establish contacts with colleagues from other latitudes.
