Officials from DIAN, CIAT, and the AEAT of Spain meet with the Spanish Ambassador in Bogotá to discuss tax cooperation initiatives

On May 23, 2025, representatives from Colombia’s National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN), the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), and Spain’s State Agency of Tax Administration (AEAT) met in Bogotá with the Spanish Ambassador to review the outcomes of a cooperation project aimed at enhancing DIAN’s capacities in international taxation.

This initiative, coordinated by CIAT and financed by the Swiss Cooperation (SECO), is technically supported by the AEAT. It seeks to boost DIAN’s technical capabilities in areas such as transfer pricing, advance pricing agreements (APAs), and mutual agreement procedures (MAPs) under tax treaties to avoid double taxation.

During the meeting, the delegations shared the progress achieved and explored future lines of cooperation to ensure the continuity and sustainability of these efforts. As part of these discussions, on May 22, DIAN, AEAT and CIAT also held a meeting with SECO’s representation in Colombia.

This project stands as a concrete example of effective coordination and shared commitment among CIAT, the Kingdom of Spain and the Swiss Confederation. The ongoing challenge is to continue supporting DIAN in addressing key areas of international taxation in greater depth, promoting steady and sustainable progress over time.
