It was a fruitful visit for both parties, since there are common areas of interest and possible joint action.

On October 8, the CIAT Executive Secretary, Mr. Márcio F. Verdi, met with the Director of the Economic Secretariat of the Presidency, who expressed her interest in coordinating related projects in accordance with the role of each institution.

One of the functions of the Economic Secretariat of the Ministry of the Presidency of the Republic of Panama is to coordinate all of the National Government’s programs dealing with competitiveness. Likewise, one of its goals is to find mechanisms whereby the country may achieve high rankings as published annually in Doing Business by the World Bank and World Economic Forum.
