International “Transfer Pricing” Seminar
In order to analyze the transfer pricing practices and experiences of the different tax administrations as well as to provide information to society, the Internal Revenue Service (SRI) of Ecuador, with the collaboration of the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) held specialized training sessions on November 10 through 17, in the cities of Quito and Guayaquil.
A seminar on general transfer pricing issues for SRI officials was held on November 10. Parallel technical sessions on “primary products” (bananas, oil, wheat and fishing) and “comparability adjustment” were held on November 11-13 for participants who deal directly with these issues. Finally, a citizen forum was held on November 14 for discussing transfer pricing problems, the main legal and administrative aspects in dealing with this subject matter, as well as for exchanging views with society in general. This latter activity was replicated on November 17 in the city of Guayaquil.
Representatives from the tax administrations of Bolivia, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, as well as SRI officials participated in these activities, in addition to experts from the Tax Administration Service of Mexico, the General Directorate of Taxation of Uruguay, the General Directorate of Taxation of the Ministry of Finance of Costa Rica, CIAT and internationally renowned academics who contributed their expertise on the subject.
