Taxation and Gender Study (Available in English)

The Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), with the support of GIZ and COSEFIN, publishes the Taxation and Gender Study, the first regional analysis based on official records disaggregated by gender.

The Study highlights the importance of the Tax Administrations incorporating the gender perspective in all their areas of activity, particularly in strategic planning, information production and analysis, auditing processes and links with other State institutions.

This study is focused on the regional level through the use of official tax records disaggregated by gender. The information was provided by the tax administrations of 11 countries, which made it possible to conduct an in-depth analysis and draw conclusions regarding the gaps between men and women in various variables of Personal Income Tax (PIT), Value Added Tax (VAT) and Wealth Tax.

This is an innovative and noteworthy contribution in this field of analysis. In addition, it becomes a tool through which Tax Administrations can find information and recommendations to support their efforts towards substantive gender equality and, as a result, towards increasingly fairer tax systems.
