The Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT) actively participated in the XV Latin American Regional Congress of the International Fiscal Association (IFA LATAM), held in Asuncion, Paraguay, on May 20-22, 2025.

This meeting brought together tax authorities, experts, and academics from across the region to discuss key issues related to international taxation.

During the congress, discussions focused on two main thematic areas:

1. The exchange of tax information: implementation of exchange upon request and automatic exchange of information.
2. Investment structures in Latin America: Partnerships and other special investment vehicles. Tax incentives, challenges, and opportunities in certain economic sectors in the region.

CIAT’s Executive Secretary, Mr. Márcio Verdi, provided a notable contribution in the opening panel, jointly organized by IFA LATAM and CIAT, where they discussed Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs), their benefits and the challenges associated with their implementation. Mr. Verdi also intervened in Seminar 5: UN Panel focused on the proposals and challenges faced by the UN Tax Committee in Latin America.

CIAT’s participation in this congress reaffirms its commitment to the modernization of tax policies and the promotion of international cooperation, key elements for facing the tax challenges common to the countries of the region.
